Snazzy new forum and theres no action
So...whos racing what, where and when next year?
I think Im going to aim for a coupla short course (sprint) du's, try for a long course duathlon...., and see if I can find an xterra type duathlon...
havent determined a race schedule yet but maybe one a month during the summer I figure....
anyone else?
I'll be at every single race, but only as a Photographer... Zoomphoto.ca has the Somersault photo contract for 2007... I will have a couple sponsored racers at each event though!
Are you planning on racing any?

I'll be making my return to defend my title as Peterborough's Dirty Duathlon Champion..........other than that, probably just the usual mountain bike circuit

Is it dirty because they let you win last year?
Heh, Dirty Du: Run, Mountain Bike, Run. Somersault was going to have one here in the Ottawa area, but not enough people signed up.. maybe we can change that this year?
What about the Winterlude Triathlon (skate, XC, run) or the Keskinada Loppett (XC) or the Pakenham Iron Legs Quadrathlon (snowshoe, downhill, XC, run)?!

Oh yeah, I'll be doing the winterlude tri...it's a fun event. I always plan to do the Keski but I hate signing up for winter activities in advance - there are no refunds for bad weather (ie. last years tri became a very wet du).

No I got owned last year, realized there is much time to be lost on the run...........so I hit the treadmill and managed to win this year by a massive 3 seconds.....it was heated.
No **** time can be lost on the run!
I averaged a whole 7-12km/h faster on the bike portion of people that beat me in the Du... how does that work? A suck at running... I must have lost 45 minutes or so in the 15km we had to run.. that's sad.

Forgive my ignorance, but aren't all Du/Tri won on the run. I work with a high level Du racer. He competed at the worlds. He's just an average roadie, but he runs almost as fast as fast as he bikes.
Yeah, I am sure they are... I had never run until this year... so my biking is fine, my running, is not so fast... I didn't realise how hard it was and how much time you lose!

yes they are typically won on the run unless you're in hawaii and your name is Norman Stadler (world ironman champ in 04 and 06...he started the run in 04 with a 24 minute lead after demolishing the pack on the bike)
of course hes not exactly a shabby runner....

I had a 2+ minute lead getting off the bike..........then got cocky and lost all but 3 seconds in 3.5km's. I am a decent runner, was only 30sec or so behind getting on the bike but wasnt able to push the pace all on my lonesome.

Joe, use the force, (OK just see if you can influence) Somersault to have a mtn bike du / trail run here next year. I (and I'm sure many others - particularly adventure racers) would be ALL over that. Was going to do the ORT in Calabogie this year but was on the same day as Hardwood O-cup
Benno, you will have to put in some extra treadmill time - I've been know to run a bit ! ; - )
Let me see how many numbers we need in the new year.. then I can start a campaign to get it going... it was sad to see it not happen last year, but it's all about registrations....

I'm thinking about:
Cumberland Duathlon (Long)
Early Bird duathlon (Long)
Ottawa river Duathlon (Int'l Du)
and National Capital Duathlon (Int'l Du)
and maybe the Fall Colours Duathlon
but I'll see how training goes in January...
Anyone know of any X-terra type events near ottawa?
