I'm just a newbie too, but I've been told by people in the know (someone who used to ride in there) that's it's REALLY extreme in the area now called the "Dark Side" & that because of the associated liability and the fact that it's privately owned (I think by a contractor) that they don't want riders in there mutilating themselves on their dime as it were. Now it's fenced off and "out of bounds", not like the chupacabra is going to get you in there or anything though, it's not something from the X-Files, just owned by a nervous landlord is all.
Feel free to make any corrections if any of the above info is innacurate. ('specially if there's chupacabras in there, because holy moley, eh!) smooches, » Phył . . . |

Thanks for the trail map...very useful for my first time.
After my ride I used Google Earth to figure out where I had actually been. Too bad the resolution isn't as good as it could be -- US locations have much more detail and you would be able to get a clear view of the trails. I'd attach the placemark but I don't seem to have those priviledges. |

On Wednesday there were some developer/construction types having a meeting at the Huntmar parking lot -- they had plans!
Anybody know if they are going to develop the Western part? |

Hey guys,
Made use of the new map today, thanks a lot, we tried a lot of new areas, quick question? Where is that see-saw setup in the picture on the bottom right, we've been on a lot of trails and still never seen it. |

Well for all of you who have been asking.. here is the Kanata Lakes Trail Map! This map will grow over time.. and if you have anything to add, just let me know. Is there any way to get a map with some landmarks included? the A-frame, the new bridges in from the K2 area, those bird feeders near K2, the log you have to ride over or through just near the hydrocut, um..the ladder drops near Outback and other stuff thats very distinctive to the area. There was a group in there that I ran into who had no idea where they were going..I hope they got out :P I couldn't really help 'em too much because I don't know the area incredibly well either yet. :P Maybe you could even mark where the bigger climbs/decents are? Ie: and up/down arrow at the stop of Ridgetop (I htink it is), or right where the descent actually is instead of the name..know what I mean? Names don't really mean bupkiss without actual signage in there either. This post has been edited by pyxen: Nov 6 2005, 02:07 PM |

i dont, actually. but as there is not an active member named "pyxen" on the OMBA forums and since he didnt know about that map, perhaps it is a safe assumption that he is not an OMBA member, no?
